And unlike other brands, SPEC's billet steel flywheels are machined to a precise tolerance of .001 that ensure your new flywheel will perform to the highest standards. Unlike cheaper options, these flywheels are also SFI certified for peace of mind.
Protects Your Investment. When replacing your clutch you have two options: resurfacing your flywheel, or getting a new flywheel. Most times, getting a new flywheel is better than resurfacing, as the flywheel will dictate how well your clutch will perform and wear, as well as how long it will last.
Rebuildable. A cheaper flywheel won't stay that way - SPEC's steel flywheels have a replaceable steel friction plate which makes this flywheel rebuildable. And this flywheel surface is also made from a special type of steel specifically designed to help your new clutch "bed in" properly and to promote superior grip - so this might just be the last flywheel you ever have to buy.
SFI Certified. If you're using this flywheel in high performance or racing applications, SFI Certification is critical so you can run your Pony at the track or strip. And it's great for peace of mind even in a daily driver - at higher RPMs, stock cast flywheels have been known to explode.
Application. This Spec Flywheel is designed for 99-Mid 01 GT, 96-04 Cobra, and 03-04 Mach 1 with the 8 bolt main.
Technical Note. This SPEC Billet Steel flywheel has an 8 bolt main that is found in the 1999-mid 2001 Mustang GT's with production date ending on 06/01, 1996-2004 Mustang Cobra's and 2003-2004 Mach 1's.
Please Note. Romeo built engines have 6 bolt cranks and Windsor built engines have 8 bolt cranks. If the 8th character in the VIN is an "X" its a Windsor block, if the 8th character in the VIN is a "W" it is a Romeo block. There is an exception to that rule as the 2001 Bullitt Edition Mustang feature a Romeo built engine. If unsure please check with your Ford dealer to determine if you have a 6 or an 8 bolt main.
